Chia Hong, the founder of our company, began his career in public service after graduating from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Science degree. He later ventured into entrepreneurship by setting up his own construction firm.

His foray into cable detection was somewhat serendipitous. Chia Hong experienced a mid-career switch when he identified an opportunity in the market. After attending a cable detection course, he discovered his true calling. As cable detection work became a mandatory requirement in the construction industry, Chia Hong decided to specialise in this area. He was among the pioneers in cable detection, leveraging his extensive experience in public service and construction to excel. His background proved invaluable, especially in drafting and plotting cables on plant maps, which were hand-drawn at the time. His prior experience with planning and laying cables, as well as constructing manholes, greatly contributed to his expertise.

Chia Hong worked tirelessly, taking on challenging projects such as cable detection for the laying of 66kV cables at substations and the 22kV submarine cable for the Sentosa Causeway. He even combined his passion for diving with his professional skills, making underwater cable detection a viable option.

A self-declared workaholic and advocate of healthy living, Chia Hong continued to work until 2019, passing away at the age of 79.

Chia Hong's legacy lives on through a dedicated team of experienced cable detectors. The company has undergone several name changes: in 1989 as Chia Hong Cable Detection, in 2001 as Chia Hong Cable Detection Pte Ltd, and since 2007, it has been known as Chia Hong Services Pte Ltd.
